Visual Studio 2010 Support

Postby milos6 » November 3rd, 2009, 10:44 am

Hi,

when do you plan VS 2010 support? Or is this version somehow installable under VS 2010?

Hi there,

Yes, when VS 2010 is released in the spring of next year, there will be a compatible DPack version out shortly.

In case you were asking about VS 2010 Beta, I'm working on a beta 2 compatible version. No ETA on that at this point yet. All seems to work fine on the surface with the exception of Bookmarks feature, which is broken. Trying to figure out how to fix it.

So, stayed tuned. Best place to spot an announcement would be my Blog. Thanks.

Great :) I just installed VS 2010 Beta 2 and the only bad thing about it is absent DPack, so I'd love to have it!

I've got all of the blocking issues resolved. The upcoming beta release includes no new functionality other than VS 2010 Beta 2 support. Major changes include: reworked bookmarks and surround with feature that stopped functioning on VS 2010; reworked commands/menu items handling; reworked setup to support the new registration mechanism.

I plan on running some tests this week and release it shortly after. Let me know if you're interested in getting hands on an early beta build. Thanks.

You're a fast guy Sergey! :) Yes, I'd be glad to check it out and help you testing. Post info here or PM me and I'll assist.

Thanks for the update and good luck with the further work.

I'm sorry it's taking so long to release it. With busy work schedule, holidays, business travel etc., I've had hard time wrapping it up. I'm hoping to have it out in a week or so.

No problem. I've been using VS2010 less, because I think it still has some glitches and is somehow more clunky than the 2008 one.

Yeah, I agree, it's rather flaky. I've had some weird debugger issues with Beta 2. Not to mention getting my preferences reset at random.

In any case, new beta is up. Feel free to grab it off of http://www.usysware.com/dpack/. Thanks.

Thank you for notification. I will check it out when I am back to work and programming. And yes, I also had issues with debugging in VS2010. Once I got a blue screen in Vista! Never had that thus far! :)

Installed VS2010 RC1 today and DPack Beta for VS2010 seems to work just fine... let's see how will it turn out in time.

You are a brave man. :) Version 2.10.0.5 is compatible with VS 2010 Beta 2 only. It hasn't been tested with RC. Furthermore, like every DPack beta, it has an expiration date, which is Monday the 15th. Unfortunately, I'm caught in a Code Browser rework and won't be able to complete it for another week or two. Once done that would be the point I'll port it over to VS 2010. So, my guess VS 2010 RC compatible version should be out next weekend at the earliest, or more realistically the weekend after. Sorry. Stay tuned.

First of all. Thanks for this great tool, that saves my life day after day :-) We really appreciate your efforts.

The expiry of 2.10.0.5 although is a bit of a downer. It worked fine with VS2010 RC and having to wait 1-2 Weeks for the next Version makes using RC really a pain.

Is there no way to republish 2.10.0.5 with a later expiration date?

Hehe... side show bob, that's funny. :) I have wrapped up Code Browser changes this weekend. But I'd really like to get it tested before I release it. If you wish, I could post a private beta for you as-is. Let me know.

Just posted new private betas v2.10.0.6 for VS 2008 and 2010 RC. Please note that it won't install against VS 2010 Beta 2 anymore. Here are the download links for you all:

http://www.usysware.com/files/DPackSetu ... teBeta.exe (834Kb)
http://www.usysware.com/files/DPackSetu ... teBeta.exe (831Kb)

Consider this release pre-beta quality, hence its short shelf life. This beta will expire on Monday. I'm hoping, that if all goes well, to have an official beta posted this weekend.

Please report any issues you run into. Thanks.
